Multiple PhD Scholarships available at Monash University on Whole Cell Modelling

MACSYS at Monash University is currently modelling the structure and function of cell envelopes for several bacterial species. The powerful models have several parameters set based on experimental observations, in this case, data gathered through the use of electron microscopy, proteomics, and metabolomics. This project will study large protein secretion systems, drug-efflux pumps, and lipid transport towers to provide means to integrate spatial information and metabolic movements across the cell envelope.

These various projects include 1) Integrative Modelling of the Bacterial Cell Envelope, 2)Uncovering RNA-RNA Networks in the Regulation of Bacterial Surface Proteins 3)Systems Biology of Bacterial Defence – Integrating Multi-Omics to Model Microbial Survival 4) Modelling Evolution – Predicting Bacterial Adaptation Using Whole-Cell Models
