Work as Research Associate (Obstetrics and Gynaecology) on Group B Streptococcus and their phages

The University of Western Australia (UWA) offers a research associate position for a PhD in microbiology, synthetic biology, molecular biology, or a related field, with advanced technical capabilities in synthetic biology and/or microbial bioengineering. The successful candidate will be able to independently design, plan, and conduct laboratory experiments in a time-efficient manner.

  • The candidate should be able to understand, treat, and prevent infection across the perinatal period (pregnancy and early life).
  • Develop bioengineering pipelines for Group B Streptococcus and their phages for exploration as future therapies.
  • Design bioengineering protocols, conducting experiments, processing and analysing data, preparing results into reports, and writing manuscripts

The Division of Obstetrics and Gynaecology is part of the University of Western Australia’s Medical School and is a multidisciplinary division that spans women’s and infants’ health. With research facilities located within the King Edward Memorial Hospital (Subiaco) and the UWA Large Animal Facility (Crawley), the division is well-positioned to conduct world-leading research with translational outcomes.
