Post Doctoral Associate at The University of Buffalo

The University at Buffalo is seeking a postdoc position to be filled in the lab of Dr. Yolanda Huang at the Department of Microbiology & Immunology. In this position, discover new functions encoded among gut anaerobic bacteria and phages using high-throughput functional genomics.

Advance the understanding of bacteria-phage interactions and how phages alter bacterial physiology and microbial composition dynamics. Leverage the knowledge of gut microbiota at the molecular level with cutting-edge techniques, including DNA barcoding, short and long-read sequencing technologies, and high-throughput functional genomics.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expertise in one or more of the following: isolation/cultivation of anaerobes and/or phages, anaerobic techniques, functional genomics, sequencing, high-throughput assay development, biochemistry, bioinformatics, analytical chemistry (LC-MS, HPLC), and microbial genetics
  • Self-motivation, ability to work independently and collaborative within a team, time-management, and organizational skills, strong communication skills.
