Propagate and titrate various viruses (including human coronaviruses 229E and OC-43) in cell cultures and embryonated chicken eggs. Determine the efficacy of multiple disinfectants against animal and human viruses. Perform RNA extraction and RT-PCR. Prepare samples for next-generation sequencing (NGS) and analysis of NGS data. Assist in projects involving bacteria and phages.
Candidates should have experience in handling animals, sampling live and dead animals, and processing samples for cell culture and molecular analysis, including PCR, qPCR, and Next-Generation Sequencing. Candidates with a strong background in molecular virology, next-generation sequencing, Bayesian analysis, phylogenetic analysis, statistical genetics, and the ability to use R and/or UNIX/command line applications will be given preference.
