The LeRoux Lab is engaged in the study of the interactions of bacterial pathogens with their viruses(phages). In this position, investigate the molecular arms race between bacteria and these viruses by discovering and characterizing new bacterial phage defense mechanisms and the mechanisms by which phage can overcome this bacterial “immune system”, using a combination of molecular biology, biochemistry, microscopy, and sequencing approaches. The long-term goal is to use this knowledge to advance the treatment of bacterial infections with bacteriophage (phage therapy).
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assists with research studies, experiments, and assays, including the collection of data, the preparation of solutions, and the setup and maintenance of equipment.
