MD PhD Opportunity in Urinary Tract Infections with a Focus on phage Therapy

Balgrist University Hospital, Zurich has an academic translational research group for phage therapy which is led by the microbiologist/clinician team of Dr. Shawna McCallin, PhD and Dr. Lorenz Leitner, MD within the Department of Neuro-Urology headed by Prof. Thomas M. Kessler. The research is aimed at investigating the clinical utility of phage therapy in the context of urinary tract infections & identifying criteria and
factors important for effective, sustainable treatment. They are a highly translational group and
work in close collaboration with partners in computational biology, bioengineering,
bioinformatics, data science, and immunology.

Seeking a motivated MD-PhD candidate to join our dynamic team starting in May/June. Key responsibilities include conducting clinical study visits, preparing for clinical visits, processing clinical samples, and applying basic microbiology techniques. You will also be
responsible for clinical data entry and analysis. Your specialty areas will be infectious
diseases and urology.
