Opportunity to work as a Laboratory Technician at the University of Pittsburgh

The Division of Infectious Diseases, Department of Medicine, Center for Antibody Therapeutics (CAT) is searching for a Laboratory Technician. The CAT lab’s focus is on the identification and characterization of antibodies by using the phage display technology. 

Routine lab work includes the basic molecular and cell biology experiments, including but not limited to: molecular subcloning, plasmids extraction, protein expression and purification; cell culture, viability assays, flow cytometry; ELISA, SPR; and protein biophysical property characterization. The knowledge of basic immunology about antibody structure and function is preferred, but not a must.

The Laboratory Technician will perform a variety of laboratory experiments such as histology, flow cytometry, molecular techniques, gene sequencing, and related technical functions, testing, troubleshooting, and analysis, including microsurgical procedures, and ensuring conformity to specifications. They will identify and prepare specimens by isolating human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from blood.
