Opportunity to work as a professor with an excellent track record in marine pelagic ecology and with a focus on marine planktonic organisms, a PhD in biology or in another topic within the life sciences, and a strong commitment to the research activities in the Research Division 3 Marine Ecology.
The Professorship is located at GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel (www.geomar.de) and will lead the Research Unit Ocean EcoSystems Biology within the Research Division Marine Ecology.
With outstanding, pioneering research in the field of marine pelagic ecology, the focus should be on host-virus interactions (e. g. phytoplankton viruses, bacteria-phages, virus-virus interactions, etc.) or other biological interactions (e. g. parasitism, mutualism, allelopathy, predator-prey, competition, etc.) as well as their influence on complex planktonic food webs.
Kiel University and GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel are striving to increase the number of female scientists in research and teaching and therefore expressly encourages qualified women to apply. Women will be given priority if their aptitude, qualifications and professional performance are of equal value.
